Over the weekend, we checked in with our Mission43 Director, BVH, to see how he's occupying himself when he's not brainstorming in the lab and if he had any new book recommendations to share. He told us he's been going on walks, spending quality time with his pig, Spanky, and just finished up Jon Krakauer's "Where Men Win Glory," detailing the life of Pat Tillman. ⁣

From the desk of BVH: Since his tragic death in 2004, I've heard and read several accounts of the legendary story of Pat Tillman, even while serving alongside U.S. Army Rangers in Afghanistan in 2005. Jon Krakauer's account stands above the rest and portrays the person Pat Tillman was and how he lived his life to the fullest in an intensely captivating manner. This book even reads like a classic tragedy -- a hero, love story, adventure, tragic death, and deceit, all in a modern setting. At a hearty 400(ish) pages, this is also an extraordinary piece of investigative research highlighting failed leadership at multiple levels of our military and putting things into context of pre and post-9/11 society. All in all, this book gets the Von recommendation for a solid April reading.⁣
