🏀🏀🏀Come see the talented women's basketball team at their first home game tomorrow at 5:30 at the Kaiser Permanente Arena! 🏀🏀🏀"My dad was born in Serbia so his connection to his bakery in Sydney was that his grandma used to make him bread from scratch. My parents are so big on quality, organics and giving back to the community. My mom and dad met in New York, but mom was born in Montreal. Sometimes I struggle with that- the fact that I'm spread out. It was hard for me to come here. All I could think was Christmas Day I would work in the bakery with family and close friends, but because of basketball I only had 4 days and couldn't go back to Australia. That would be when I would feel the cultural gap and I would start missing my family and friends and life there even when I was surrounded by my team. Without basketball I would've given up. It gave me happiness that nothing is else was giving me. I was putting in work and getting a reward. If I wasn't there people would notice and would be affected, and that mattered. Basketball was such a passion of mine that gives me a jolt of energy and happiness. I would just try and leave everything else. It's like this breaking point of when it's really hard but you push past that point of feeling like you're gonna break and you feel like you can do anything!" #humansofopers
