Saddle bronc rider Damian Brennan has been on a heater all season and the Australian cowboy didn't cool down June 22.

Brennan had an 87-point ride on King Rodeo and Wentz Bucking Bulls' Gone Girl to win the Crooked River Roundup in Prineville, Ore, a stop on the Playoff Series.

"I knew what it did…that it jumps and kicks around a lot, but I knew if I was able to do my job, I was going to be (good)," Brennan said.

Brennan earned $3,976 for his performance and kept himself atop the PRCA | RAM World Standings as he looks to make a return trip to the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo after making his debut in Las Vegas a year ago.

"Nothing really changes from here to be honest," Brennan said about his mindset. "I just have to keep my head down and keep rodeoing and keep a positive attitude."

The 25-year-old cowboy from Injune, Queensland, Australia, is gearing up his rodeo season and is eyeing a win at the Reno (Nev.) Rodeo where he was up Sunday night and Monday.

"Hopefully I can stay in that No. 1 spot. That is all a guy can do is keep trying," he said. "I am just going to hope that the good draws come and that I can keep riding good, that is all I need."

As far as what keeps Brennan going and what motivates him to continue to succeed at rodeos, he spoke of his large support system.

"I have a massive support system back home in Australia and I have dreamed of this since I was a little kid. I am here living the dream and being able to give young Australians back home a desire to rodeo and know they can do it too; it means a lot to be able to do that for my country," Brennan said.

Brennan had his breakout season last year where he qualified for the NFR and finished fourth in the average with 851 points on 10 head. He placed in seven rounds.

His best ride came in Round 4, securing the victory with an 89-point trip on TNT Pro Rodeo's Cancun Moon. He and 2023 PRCA World Champion Bull Rider Ky Hamilton became the first Australians to win NFR rounds on the same night, and they did it twice in Round 4 and Round 7.

Brennan finished fifth in the world standings with $296,495. He currently has season earnings of $134,214 and has found success at other rodeos such as RodeoHouston, and the Dixie National Rodeo in Jackson, Miss.

Other winners at the $216,834 rodeo were all-around cowboy Cody Stewart ($4,482, tie-down roping and team roping); bareback rider Keenan Hayes (88.5 points on Big Stone Rodeo Inc.'s Mayhem); steer wrestler Brady Boyce (9.6 seconds on two head); team ropers Hayes Smith/Justin Davis (10.6 seconds on two head); tie-down roper Shane Hanchey (18.5 seconds on two head); steer roper Scott Snedecor (42.1 seconds on three head); barrel racer Tristan Parrish (17.25 seconds); and bull rider Derek Kolbaba (87.5 points on Four Star Rodeo's Tim Horn).
