𝗗-𝗗𝗮𝘆 🇺🇸 𝗝𝘂𝗻𝗲 𝟲, 𝟭𝟵𝟰𝟰

This scene in savingpfcryan changed my whole outlook on not only film but life. It was one of the first experiences that I can recall, where I became super immersed and emotionally invested in a movie, and where I sought to learn more after it was over. It was unlike anything I had ever seen, and to this day, is still one of my favorite scenes of all time.

I also remember hearing that Spielberg and Kaminski modeled the look of the film on newsreel footage. They converted modern lenses (panavisionofficial super speed zeisscameralenses ) to capture footage more like cameras from the 1940s and modeled the bleached-out look of the D-Day scene based on the photos captured by #robertcapa at Omaha Beach in Normandy. He captured all of it on two Contax II cameras mounted with 50mm lenses and a few rolls of film. This entire thought process and decision making is pure mastery of craft.

In an attempt to pay homage to the fantastic work by Steven Spielberg, Janusz Kaminski, Michael Kahn, and the heroes that never made it off that beach, I tried to bring a modern day grade 🎨 to this mark in world history. This is and will always be one of the most incredible films to me 🎥
