The first ever Miami Clasico was played on Tuesday, and there’s already calls to make this a yearly thing. It’s not everyday that you hear Miami is the visiting side in Miami. First game in Dade County for Neville’s boys, and they were welcomed in spectacular fashion. A Miami FC record crowd of 11,154 at Riccardo Silva Stadium, over 10k people showing up at 7PM on a Tuesday to witness the magic of the Open Cup with their own eyes. Inter Miami FC vs Miami FC on the field, and La Familia vs Dade Brigade in the stands. Da Silva, Valot, Segbers, vs Adams, Campana, and Yedlin. Miami FC created chances throughout the game, and that Valot free kick will live in fan memories for a long time. Nearly inch-perfect, but the 24 year-old from Sacramento had other ideas. What a save. USL and MLS, toe to toe for a little over an hour, but the bell came at the 83rd minute. Leonardo Campana, from Guayaquil, to Wolverhampton, to finally, Miami. The Ecuadorian wants to be part of his nation’s World Cup roster at the end of the year, and Neville has given him every chance to showcase his talent for the World to see. He placed a Hulk-esque left foot strike to obliterate the back netting and called game for all of Miami to see. No matter the score, the 305 was always going to come out on top. Beautiful scenes out of South Florida, and this Miami rivalry is a win for everyone lucky enough to witness it. The rematch can’t come soon enough.
