Tech. Sgt. Cody Smith, a #SpecialTactics #combatcontroller, will be awarded the #SilverStarMedal during a ceremony, Friday. 
While deployed to Afghanistan as a qualified #JTAC with a U.S. Special Forces Team, the Air Force Times' 2019 Airman of the Year exposed himself to danger and prevented enemy forces from overrunning friendly positions by controlling #PrecisionStrike airpower from multiple aircraft, including nine attacks being danger close. Smith is also responsible for assisting dozens who were injured or killed by the enemy's ambush to extraction locations.
