#DYK 8 years ago today, #OperationTomodachi was launched to support Japan following the 2011 Tohoku 8.9 magnitude earthquake and tsunami. The quake, one of the largest in recorded history, triggered a 23-foot tsunami that battered Japan's coast, killing hundreds and sweeping away cars, homes, buildings, and boats. Thirty #SpecialTactics #AirCommandos from the 320th STS deployed in support of airfield operations at two locations--Matsushima and Sendai. #AFSOC #PersonnelRecovery #GlobalAccess
