## Caption

💥Modified RSI - one of the most reported metrics in force plate literature. Is the metric all it cracks up to be?

mRSI is a single metric that is calculated from two metrics. It quickly answers the question…how high and how quick?

Two metrics used in the calculation:

(1) Jump Height 
(2) Jump Time

⏱️ In the case of the Countermovement Jump (CMJ), the Jump Time is Time To Takeoff - and is the total time of the unweighting phase, braking phase, and propulsive phases. In a Drop Jump or other reactive assessment, Jump Time becomes Contact Time - eliminating the unweighting phase duration and only using the braking and propulsive phase times. 

🚀 Jump Height when using a force plate should always be calculated from Takeoff Velocity (❌not Flight Time). Takeoff Velocity is the velocity that the athlete is leaving the force plates with, immediately after Peak Velocity. Therefore, Takeoff Velocity, Peak Velocity, and Jump Height are essentially the same metric (❌no need to report all together). By using Takeoff Velocity to calculate Jump Height, the potential for “cheating” the test is eliminated once the athlete is in the air. The software will actually already know the Jump Height before the athlete even lands back on the force plates. 😎

Biggest limitation to using mRSI? Not knowing which metric changed to influence the calculation…did Jump Height go up, or did Jump Time decrease? 🤔
