From Dr. Lake: “This figure above shows vertical force (blue line) of the CMJ plotted against time. We overlay this with the vertical velocity (red line) of the jumper to help deconstruct this into different phases. During the countermovement velocity dips below zero, while during propulsion it will be above zero. When the velocity-time slope is negative (start-a & c-d) the jumper passively decelerates, while a positive velocity-time slope shows when the jumper actively accelerates...learning how to accurately deconstruct the CMJ force-time curve can help practitioners more appropriately apply this information to effectively maximise their athlete’s performance.”
