Having ham for your holiday meal? #DidYouKnow that the Esskay ham company originated in Baltimore? Initially founded in 1858 and merged with another meatpacking company in 1919, the Esskay name came from shortening “S-K” of the company’s full name: Schluderberg-Kurdle. 

Learn more about our state’s fascinating history since its founding in 1634 throughout our exhibition, “Discover Maryland.” Whether you are a lifelong resident or a traveling visitor, there is much to uncover. The Museum is open Dec. 29 and 30 next week.
