“Running has given me the best friends and made me truly feel part of a community, both here in NYC and beyond.” 🫶

Meet Madeleine Marshall👋 an NYRR member who first got involved with nyrr in 2019 through the 9+1 program for guaranteed entry into the #TCSNYCMarathon after a friend of hers encouraged her to run the NYRR #WashHeights5K.

“The NYC Marathon had always been top of my bucket list, as my dad ran the race twice in the ‘90s and always spoke fondly about his memories.”🗽

After running the 5K, she signed up for the remainder of the races that year to complete her 9+1. She’s now in her fourth year of doing the program.
 
“My dad was the first person to encourage me to run a marathon and he had confidence in me from the start. He was talking about me hitting a Boston Qualifying time before I even knew what that meant.”
 
The two aren’t the only ones in the family who run. Madeleine’s sister ran the 2023 #TCSNYCMarathon with her as well as this year’s #UnitedNYCHalf–holding hands across the finish line! And her brother ran with them at the #CitizensQueens10K to celebrate Madeleine’s 30th birthday. 🥳🎂
 
Madeleine is a member of the dashingwhippets Running Team and will race with them at the #NYRRTeamChamps 5M in July and the #NBBronx10M in September before toeing the line at the #TCSNYCMarathon on November 3.
