Pro tip: find yourself a work event where you get to have an incredibly supportive and impactful discussion AND someone still remembers to take a pic for social.

(You’d think that would be me… it never is.)

I’ve been absolutely loving the Roundtable events at the Pyramid Club this summer, especially the Women’s Entrepreneur Roundtable.

When you’re running a business, it’s entirely too easy to put your head down and work until you “catch up,” then realize 3 years have gone by and you haven’t actually caught up. (Just me?)

There was a long stretch of time when I thought I just didn’t have time to go to events like this.

I mean, it’s true. I didn’t have time.

I never will.

But I have to make time.

Lately I’ve been ok with setting aside some of the “feels urgent but actually aren’t” tasks that follow me from day to day (undone) so I can take a moment to get into the real world.

Every time I do, I gain way more than checking that task off my to-do list would ever give me.

Sometimes it’s a great networking opportunity - I can’t tell you how much these events have organically grown my business.

Sometimes it’s a learning experience. This week we talked about time management tips, and it was awesome to see how candid we all were in our struggles and suggestions. It’s good to be reminded that everyone else is behind on their list too (and stressing about it more than they should.)

Sometimes it’s a business development opportunity. I’ve learned more about my service and unique value by talking to others than I could ever see by working in my business. It’s completely reshaped my work.

Sometimes it’s just a genuine connection - I’m known to be willing to get personal with anyone in any setting (and sometimes offer up a tarot reading too, just for fun.)

Every time, I gain something.

It’s just not usually the photos I should be taking so I can share it on social media - the way I’d encourage all my clients to do, because, you know, that’s my job 😂
