Haven’t posted some online gains in a minute so here’s one of my students Troy 👇

He’s a scratch golfer and former D2 athlete who’s been working with me for just about a month now. Had the classic tendency of coming down with a shaft that’s much too vertical in the downswing, followed by a severe amount of right side bend in an attempt to shallow the club late in the swing.

That pattern leads to all sorts of inconsistencies in terms of strike location, ball flight curvature, start lines, etc.

Very hard to be consistent with your distance control when your loft & clubface have so much timing at the bottom.

Because he’s a good player who competes, you can’t go into this matchup by simply shallowing the club better. Although that’s theoretically the root cause of his excessive side bend, his club path would get way too far from the inside if his pivot doesn’t improve as well. A shallow shaft in the downswing with that type of posture is going to create some massive blocks and hooks, so we had to incrementally fix both areas.

Slightly deeper hand path to gradually get the club on a shallower plane, followed by some work on his tilts to remove a lot of his right side bend and keep his club path in check.

You’ll see an alignment stick through his belt loops. That’s used as a visual for his hip rotation, as well as his pelvic tilt. Keeping the lead side down as he turns gets him to stay in posture longer. Extremely impressive upgrades for just one month of work 🤙
