Currently working on a couple of areas. One of them being hand path which for me relates to club face rate of closure.

Getting the correct worst angles for my pattern is important, hence the training aid. This is quite a good one as it’s not an overly intrusive training aid, not expensive and can keep it in your golf bag.

Feedback from training aids are the first step, use them and learn where your body needs to move and how it moves to use the aid correctly.

Then the real change and transfer happens when you put the training aid down and hit shots and make swings with out the training aid but use those ‘feels’ to make the ‘real’ moves and motions. Notice what feels different. Using training aids, camera, launch monitors are what I would call the real ‘feel’ machines as they are linking feel to real.

Hitting 100 shots with a training aid in a row will not progress to ‘real’ as quick as putting in some variability.

Hit 4/5 shots with training aid then put it down and get another club and hit a full shot to a target and see if you can replicate. This is where the actual change and ownership of the move really takes place.

1.*DRILLS*

Hit small and slow motion shots using training aid to understand, make better motions/movements. Step up to full shots when ready.

2. *FEEL*

Hit shots without training aid and notice what feels different.

3. *REAL*

Take feel to the course, remember drills create feels, that create good golf.

My experience is that when we play well we have a good ‘feel’ (what that is against proprioception is another post) then we link our good golf to the ‘feel’ we had without remembering the work we did to create the feel.

So if you have lost that good feeling in your golf swing, have a think about what you did that created that feel 😉
