“Emily here from nurturebynaps. As a Family NP working with postpartum moms, we talk a lot about good posture and supporting those feet – especially when postpartum – to ensure a smoother poop. You see a lot out there for adults when it comes to elevating the feet and squatting, but nothing for kids. And they are wired the same, just smaller! 

So let’s talk about good posture while pooping to help your kiddo so they aren’t pushing, straining, or uncomfortable (which can then lead them to feeling afraid to poop on the potty).

The Super Pooper Plus has a foot rest to support their feet, bringing their knees above their hips and creating that natural squatting position. Getting into this position allows the rectum to align with the colon, creating a smoother pathway to poop! And who wouldn’t want that?

BONUS TIP! In addition to keeping that stress and pressure low around potty training and throwing in some fun (the flusher on this potty cheers for you!), remind your child to BREATHE. 

Here’s my favorite breathing exercise for toddlers: Pretend you’re holding a cup of hot chocolate covered in marshmallows. Take that deep breath in and then slowly blow on the hot chocolate to cool it down. But not too fast or hard, or they’ll blow the marshmallows off!”
