It’s #TeacherAppreciationWeek. While #stayinghome and homeschooling children, it’s likely that teacher appreciation is at an all-time high! Kidde thanks the hardworking teachers across the country, especially for the home safety lessons they incorporate into the classroom. Here are a few tips for teaching your children home fire safety:

🍎 Escape Planning: Children should know how to escape the home in case of emergency. Plan 2 ways out and practice with the entire family, both during the day and at night. 🍎 Practice Testing Alarms: Practice hitting alarm test button so children learn to recognize the sound and what to do if they hear it. 🍎 Close Bedroom Doors: Sleeping with closed doors may slow the spread of smoke and fire. 🍎 Know How To Get Help: Have children memorize the fire department emergency number. 🍎 Teach How To Escape: This is especially important in case help cannot reach them.  They should “get low and go” out quickly, no matter what.
