On #MayDay 🌷, we celebrate the return of Spring with colorful florals and baskets. At Kidde, our thoughts are always on safety. Instead of the traditional maypole dance, who wants to join us in a “safety dance”? Here are some important tips to help keep your home’s best friend - your smoke alarms! – in tip top shape:

Check the batteries – To avoid those pesky battery chirps, replace alarm batteries at least once per year.
Hit the test button – Test smoke alarms at least once a week. 
Clean your alarm – #DYK alarms need a good clean, too? They can collect dust and other “junk”. Often those “random” beeps are a signal the alarm needs cleaning, typically this involves a gentle vacuuming, but check your specific manual for instruction.
Check alarm age – Every smoke alarm needs to be replaced after 10 years – no matter what! If you have forgotten when it was installed, simply check the manufacturing date on the back and add 10 years.
