On this somber anniversary, we reflect on the tragic events of June 30th, 2013, when the Wildland Fire Community suffered an unimaginable loss. Eleven years ago, 19 brave firefighters perished while battling the Yarnell Hill Fire in Prescott, Arizona - the largest single loss of firefighters in the United States since 9/11.

Today, we honor the memory of the Granite Mountain Hotshots and the profound impact they had on the Wildland Fire Community. We remember not only the 19 brave firefighters who perished, but also the families, friends, and loved ones they left behind.

At their memorial stand 19 gabions, one for each fallen brother, which are united by chains. They remain together as the team with which they worked and made their last stand.
