Yet, more than a third of the world's countries criminalize consensual, loving same-sex relationships, entrenching prejudice and putting millions of people at risk of blackmail, arrest and imprisonment. 

"The solutions are clear," said UN Secretary General antonioguterres on Tuesday's International Day against Homophobia, Transphobia & Biphobia. "We need to combat violence against LGBTIQ+ people; outlaw harmful practices; provide justice and support to victims, and end persecution, discrimination, and criminalization."
