Meet Nour from #Syria. 

She missed two years of school when her family was displaced because of conflict, and now has to work collecting papers and cardboard boxes with her mother and sisters to afford their family's basic food needs.

When the family returned to Aleppo, Nour’s mother enrolled her in unicef's Out-of-School-Children programme, which is supported with e-vouchers by the worldfoodprogramme.

The programme helps children who have missed school due to conflict catch up with their peers in half the required time by combining two academic years in one. School children going back to school for 80% of the time get a food voucher for the whole family. The programme reaches more than 10,000 children in Syria.

Like Nour, children in emergencies often miss out on education. School meals are a simple but effective incentive to keep children in schools. 

Thursday is International #SchoolMeals Day.
