I love recalling a period of time that I think was super shitty.
In my mind June was an epic failure. And in one way it really was. I ran the slowest steeplechase time I’ve run since college and didn’t get to compete at the Olympic Trials which means I missed out on my chance to qualify for Paris. Bummerrrrr
What I appreciate about recapping the month is that when I looked at my camera roll from the last 30 days I had so many “oh yeah, that happened this month too” moments.
I watched myfavoritepie swim in the ocean more than once. I did a couple awesome bike rides with friends. itskevinconroy and I got to see our best friends and our two godsons in Portland. I ran some beautiful trails in Austin and LA. Kevin and I went to 3 different farmers markets. I got reacquainted with the pilates reformer thanks to katonapilates. I challenged myself with the coldest cold plunge I’ve ever done- 38 degrees up to my neck! And yes, I tried and failed to make it to the Olympic Trials.

The other day I was running on the bike path in Venice and this guy on a bike happily yelled out “make no mistake- this is living! It’s happening right now! This is it!” And I just think that’s exactly right. All of it is living, all the good and bad moments. One moment doesn’t define your day. One day doesn’t define your month. One season doesn’t define your year. One year doesn’t define your life.
