Staff Spotlight🔦- Katie O'Connell

Katie started her journey with the organization in March 2021. Initially serving as a P.J. Boatwright intern, Katie quickly made an impact and was hired as a full-time tournament coordinator in September of that same year. In a short span of time, she has become an indispensable part of the TGA team.

One of the highlights of Katie's experience with TGA has been her involvement in the Women's Southern Golf Association (WSGA) championships. As supporting staff, she has had the opportunity to explore some stunning golf courses outside Texas, with her favorite being Hunting Creek Country Club in Kentucky. The 107th WSGA Amateur & Mid-Amateur Championship held there remains a cherished memory for her.

Katie is particularly excited about the Women's Saturday Series events, which she considers her special project. Another event she eagerly anticipates is the Women's Four-Ball at Fair Oaks Ranch, where the newly renovated Blackjack course has garnered rave reviews.

When she's not working to enhance the TGA's offerings, Katie enjoys traveling and attending Dallas Mavericks and Dallas Stars games. She also has a penchant for dog sitting because who doesn’t love some puppy time?

Katie's passion for golf isn't just limited to her role in the TGA. During the Covid pandemic, she and her father delved into their family history, discovering that golf had been a significant part of their heritage. In a serendipitous twist, Katie found out that three of her relatives have their names etched on the Texas Amateur trophy, with one even being a member of the Texas Golf Hall of Fame.

Katie's connection to golf runs deep, and her enthusiasm for the sport has made her an invaluable asset to the Texas Golf Association. As she continues to contribute to the growth of women's golf in Texas and beyond, Katie O'Connell bridges her rich family history with a bright future for the sport she loves.
