Recently, We Found New Music said that about me and it’s made me wonder - am I living up to this?

When I first started out  in music in my mid-thirties, most people I knew silently judged me...

A pop star? What does that even mean? The only examples of a “pop star” we had were young girls formed by old industry men...

...telling them what they should wear, sound like, and look like on stage. 

I (of course) wasn’t interested in that...

but I WAS interested in expressing myself, in finding my true voice, in playing and having fun, in experimenting, in being able to inspire and move people through the power of music, story tell through my lyrics and connect through my most personal stories....which are, as Joseph Campbell has said,  the most universal stories.

Pop star? A guy I went on a few dates with last year made fun of me for that as well, claiming that I must not be interested in music...

I must just want the attention and validation. 

HA! If I wanted that, I certainly wouldn’t be putting out music at all - I would be doing something MUCH safer

Pop star has meant something very specific in the past...but we are in an era of change and I am SO EXCITED to be redefining what it means. 

I’m going to be thinking about this and sharing more as we continue to evolve and grow. I hope you’ll stay with me along the way. So much love to you.
