What does training look like for a 240 miler?

I've been getting this question a lot lately and so here is a little insight into my training. Please note this is my first 240 miler so it's a bit of learning process for me😉.

I run 5 x a week and the other 2 days I spend power hiking and I will add a weighted vest too. With power hiking I aim to keep my pace around a 14min/mile. It's all about time on my legs. The days I power hike are the days I use for strength and foam rolling etc.

My run days are a combination of long runs, recovery runs and one workout, which will either be a track session or hill repeats.

Some of my long runs will start at 1am and end at 6 or 7am. The theory with this is to try and get my body use to the sleep deprivation so it doesn't go into shock when I arrive in Utah, hahahaha.

I run on different terrains, nothing glamorous. Depending on time it will either be around my neighborhood or on a trail. I would prefer doing it 100% on trails but unfortunately that's not always possible as the trails are 20 minutes from my house so I keep the trail runs for my weekend long runs😉

Weekly mileage. I'm currently on 50 miles a week. I've been building up a good steady base. Obviously it will go up the closer I get to Moab😉 #irunfar #workhard #nevernotrunning
