☀️Cup Day

As the team dons their storied colors and step onto the field, they carry with them not just the hopes of a city, but the echoes of a century’s worth of dreams.

Will this be the year the curse is shattered? Will Steel City finally lift the trophy and end Joliet’s 105-year drought?

Goalless
First, the red-n-black will need to snap their 204-minute goalless streak. Coach Dillard will hope it’s like waiting for the #501 – just as patience begins to wane, not one but three buses crest the horizon, arriving in quick succession.

The XI
But Dillard isn't sitting patiently. The coach makes four changes to last week's lineup including handing Nnuro-Frimpong a debut. Schiltz, NXT's two-year leading scorer is called up to provide a spark.

AFC Roscoe
Steel City travels to AFC Roscoe, marking the first ever time that a Midwest Premier League First Division team meets a Second Division team in sanctioned competition. In fact, AFC Roscoe sit top of the Second Division, eyeing promotion. 

Steel City is unbeaten against AFC Roscoe, having eliminated them from the State Cup 2-1 in 2022. McGrath (Lysik) and Erickson (S. Garcia) tallied for Steel City at Whitney Young HS that night.

Cup Run
Steel City has already slayed one table-topping team in this year's tournament, having downed Lakeview FC, the leaders of the Greater Chicagoland Soccer League’s Chicago Division – a rival semi-pro league.
