The 2024 Nathan's Hot Dog Eating Contest kicked off in Coney Island, New York, but a major player wasn't present.

Sixteen-time champ Joey Chestnut wasn't part of the July 4th contest due to a contractual dispute with Major League Eating. That opened the door (and the esophagus) for Patrick "Deep Dish" Bertoletti to win.
