VITILIGO

This skin condition started out as a curse and ended up being a blessing. 
.
I discovered the first white spots on me eyes when I was 14
I knew exactly what it was and I was devastated. All I wanted at 14 was to look “normal” 
I spend more time in front of the mirror crying and hating myself than I want to admit. 
.
I felt out of place, I felt wrong, I felt ugly, I felt uncomfortable and I was unhappy with myself! 
.
It took a long time for me to first accept it. 
Accept the girl that I see in the mirror 
Accept people staring and talking 
Accept that I can’t control this skin condition 
.
Acceptance turned one day into appreciation 
And appreciation turned into self love! 
.
See… this is a journey I’ve been on for a long time. I’m not quite there yet, but I’m working on it! I’m working on myself!
