Italian legend Giorgio Chiellini moved to the U.S. when he signed for LAFC, and has spent the last two years living in LA.

He’s now moving back to Italy. And before he leaves, he sends an emotional message to American soccer fans.

“I want to ask you something. Please continue to watch soccer every day. Please continue to play soccer. Please continue to live soccer every day,” Chiellini said on FOX broadcast today.

“That’s very important because we have an upcoming Club World Cup in 2025. The World Cup in 2026. Please help us make soccer better and better.”

In addition to those two tournaments, there will also be Gold Cup next summer in the U.S., which will reportedly have good teams from other confederations being invited to make the tournament more competitive.

Over a million tickets have been sold this summer in the U.S. for the Copa América, despite ticket prices being very expensive. It shows the growth of soccer in the U.S. and people coming out to support teams they feel connected to.
