Stars of The World Games 2022 are swapping Birmingham, Alabama for Birmingham, UK to take part in the Arnold Sports Festival UK.

Kjell Bakkelund of Norway took the gold medal in Alabama earlier this month, after taking his 4th open world title in Stavanger last year. He is the 74kg class deadlift world record holder in both classic and equipped and he leads the nomination in the battle for the 2,000 euro 1st prize.

He will have to contend with home nation hero, Tony Cliffe, the first Brit in nearly 30 years to bring a medal back from The World Games. Tony will be on home turf - can he take the fight to Kjell for first place?

Agata Sitko of Poland, in her first season of international lifting, came within a whisker of making the fabled triple - classic world champion, equipped world champion and world games gold medallist. Not quite however, as she missed the classic crown only on bodyweight. She currently holds 19 world records, junior and open, classic and equipped and is one of the brightest rising stars in the IPF right now. She will be lifting in the classic competition at the Arnold UK.

Silver WG medallist, Zuzanna Kula, also from Poland, is the current equipped junior world champion, she also took the silver in the open competition AND in the junior classic worlds. She is the junior world record holder in squat, bench and total and she will be competing equipped in both full power and in the Sunday Bench Clash and is a real contender for prize money in both.

Bronze medallists Danylo Kovalov and Tetyana Melnyk, both from Ukraine, lead a huge field of athletes fresh back from The World Games, including Sonja-Stefanie Krueger (GER), Hildeborg Hugdal (NOR), Marte Elverum (NOR), Melodie Anthouard (FRA), Ellie Steel (GBR), Ivana Horna (SVK) and Emma Goodwin (GBR).

You have until 1st Aug to get your nomination in if you want to lift with legends and rub shoulders with some of the best equipped lifters in the world. World records will be broken, prize money will be won - this is your chance to be part of the action in Birmingham, UK.
