At 12:43 pm, Swift announced that tomorrow, Feb. 2, is a remote virtual day due to the National Service Winter Prediction of storm conditions in Ann Arbor.

“To continue important daily connections and learning across our classrooms during upcoming days impacted by inclement weather, when circumstances allow, we will transition to remote-virtual learning on some inclement weather days,” the email communication reads.

Classes will be remote according to daily schedules pertaining to the school, all school activities are canceled and school buildings will be closed. Attendance will be taken.

AAPS already has already used up their allotted school closures of six days. So, having another day off or having less than 75 percent of attendance can lead to an extension of the school year.

“Because of how many days off we had this year already, due to staff shortages,” junior Ava Tunison said, “I am not surprised we are going to have a virtual day. I was hoping for no school tomorrow, so it’s disappointing.”
English teacher Alison Eberts drives half an hour every day to reach Huron.

“I appreciate being able to work from home,” Eberts said. I’m happy to know I won’t have to battle the weather tomorrow [especially] through the half-hour commute.”

“As is always the case when the AAPS convenes classes,” Swift wrote. “The ultimate decision rests with parents as to whether they choose for their children to participate in classes each day, based on their unique circumstances.”

If weather circumstances like power outages occur, preventing attendance for virtual learning, amongst AAPS staff and students, AAPS will transition to an “inclement weather, school emergency closure day.”

“We value the ongoing priority for learning and class attendance in our AAPS community,” Swift wrote. “We will notify our AAPS community about the status of instructional delivery for Thursday and Friday based on the unfolding impact of the storm; we will share notifications as far in advance as is possible so that students, families and staff may prepare.”
