Located on a busy stretch of Washtenaw Avenue, Luca’s Pastry lies in a small and somewhat obscure strip mall. While it is neighboring several other businesses, such as Chipotle and Bambu, this new patisserie should not be overlooked.

Although the new location is a bit removed from the street, making it a bit harder to reach, it's still a charming small location. When you walk inside, you immediately are able to see the bakery section of the shop with the employees baking fresh cakes and pastries. They offer a wide array of pastries and cakes, including cannolis, tarts, lobster tails, macarons and cupcakes. On my visit, I tried the original Italian Cannoli, a lemon tart, a strawberry cupcake, a strawberry macaron and a chocolate eclair. These were all presented in a singular box, and the total price came out to $17.25, which is a tad high but still a reasonable price for five various pastries. Of the ones I tried, the best was easily the lemon tart: it had a soft, crispy shell and the tart itself was delicious and not too overpowering in its sweetness. The macaron was also very tasty and it was made properly with a crisp outside and a smooth, sweet inside. The cupcake was good, especially the frosting and the small jelly filling. However, the cake part itself was a tad dry on its own; the jelly and the frosting however added some good texture and moisture to the cake. The cannoli, their most famous product, was satisfactory; the cream filling and the shell were quite delicious, however, the amount of chocolate on the ends was a little overpowering. I believe that the eclair was the weakest of the five I chose, mostly due to the overwhelming chocolate flavor, but if you enjoy chocolate treats then this may be one of your favorites.

If you are looking for some sweet treats or a cake for a celebration, Luca’s Pastry is definitely not an option to rule out. All and all, for the prices offered, I think Luca’s Pastry is a great deal with delicious options; that being said, I wouldn’t recommend all of the pastries offered. Overall, I feel comfortable giving Luca’s Pastry a 4.3/5.
