We are so excited for our next spotlight to be Kardea Brown! kardeabrown 

Kardea is a contemporary Southern Chef of Gullah/Geechee descent, a term used to describe a distinct group of African Americans living in the coastal areas of South Carolina. She is the host of the hit show Delicious Miss Brown on Food Network as well as the host of The Great Soul Food Cook Off on OWN.

“When I started my career, I had no experience with professional cooking let alone cooking on television. It was difficult sitting on judges’ panels with seasoned chefs. As you could imagine, it affected my confidence. I found myself questioning if I truly belonged here? But deep down I knew I was right where I belonged. With time, persistence and practice I became more confident. I didn’t give up on myself. Which was very easy to do. And I hope you never give up on yourself as well! Take it from me, it gets better. Just hold on!”
