Here, Coach James discusses ‘Priority Focus’

It’s a coaching technique that can be used to direct players’ attention to the primary objectives the training session.

A lot of times, we see players (and sometimes coaches) evaluating their performance based on the final action (such as a shot or pass), rather than concentrating on the key skill being developed.

In this case, the session priority was for Michael to use certain deceptive triggers as a winger before turning.

By focusing feedback on process-oriented goals rather than outcome-oriented actions, it helps players with the learning environment, and signifies the importance of the sessions priority.
