COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — In a tournament style rodeo, winning a round isn't as important as showcasing consistency.

Tie-down roper John Douch made the most of both his opportunities during the first two performances of the NFR Open powered by Ram at the Pikes Peak or Bust Rodeo.

The Huntsville, Texas, native recorded a pair of second-place runs on Tuesday and Wednesday at the Norris Penrose Event Center.

Douch finished atop the Pool A average with 18.1 seconds on two head and clinched a spot in Saturday's championship round.
