Meet Marta and Lesia, two accounting besties at Emily Griffith Technical College! 💚🤝
Marta and Lesia have shared why they chose to come to Emily Griffith, their favorite class time experience, and supports have been helpful for them as a student⬇: 
Why did you choose to come to Emily Griffith?
Lesia: "I came to USA from Ukraine in 2022. Next I came to a Lutheran organization and they sent me to Emily Griffith to study english. My English was bad! But I started  the english classes. My teacher talked to me about continuing my education so I enrolled in a vocational transitional class where I met Marta."
Marta: "We were very happy to meet each other because we are from the same region in Ukraine. So I asked Lesia for her phone number and we started to talk more. She told me she owned a restaurant in Ukraine and I realized I had eaten at her restaurant! I told Lesia that I was a police officer in Ukraine and Lesia told me that she remembered one day one of her waitresses told her that they had police officers in the restaurant eating- and I realized that one of the officers was me! Eventually she told me she was doing the accounting program and so was so we worked together to prepare." 
Can you share about a favorite classroom experience?
Lesia: "For me, creating a business plan! I made a business plan for my restuarant. It's hard to learn and speak in english language, but I was ready to do it. It was also interesting to learn to about debit and credit in america. It's more difficult than in Ukraine but so interesting to learn."
Marta: "Comparing the education system here and Ukraine, I like it more here. There is a more friendly and free environment. You can discuss things with your teacher, you can ask questions. In Ukraine your teacher is like your strong parent. Kelli, our instructor, is always answering questions! We are dreaming of getting our diplomas and finding work."
