Memories.

The other day, I went hiking around Mount Falcon with my Dad. We both wanted to get out of my Grandpa's house for a bit and did a tough hike that took us about 5-6 hours to finish (with breaks). My Dad and I don't have a ton of memories doing these rigorous activities together up until recently but, rather one-on-one lunches mostly or watching movies - this is one of the first few times that we've taken a trip together and spent an extended period of time away from my Mom and sister.

Over the last few days being in Colorado, between taking care of my Grandpa and spending time with family, he spoke about his time living in Colorado with his siblings after coming to America. He showed me that even when you're poor like his family was when they immigrated, the little things in life like Church's Fried Chicken, Chicken Noodle Soup from China Chef, and shopping for dishes and spoons from Goodwill can still provide happiness, and the necessities you need in your life. Even if you become rich, remember those little things and never change who you are just to fit in. That's what we did, ate at Church's Fried Chicken, sat and talked about life, and cherished those moments, never taking things for granted. That's what I'll remember about my Dad and pass on to my kids one day.

All of this is to say, I'm looking forward to making new memories with my Dad and trekking the Camino de Santiago in Europe with him next year!
