Summer is almost here! Which means it is a great time to start thinking about ideas to improve and celebrate literacy and learning in your community of Oakland students and families. The OLC can help you make your project come to life with an action grant📚📚📚

On April 11th, we are inviting applications for action grants up to $500 for reading projects during Summer 2022 that give away high interest new books and encourage reading with PK- 8th grade students in Oakland.There will be an opportunity for grantees to pick free books up from the OLC office starting on May 23✨✨✨

Oakland-based community, nonprofit, and faith based organizations that work with preschool through middle school age children are encouraged to apply. We also welcome applications from informal neighborhood and/or cultural groups and childcare providers.(501(c)3 nonprofit status is not required.) Schools and nonprofits that run school-based summer programs are not eligible for action grants. However, we are happy to work with you to provide books to distribute to students in your summer classes. More information on this process will be available in May.
