“For at one time you were darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light (for the fruit of light is found in all that is good and right and true), and try to discern what is pleasing to the Lord. -Ephesians 5:8-10

We are all sinners, deserving death, alone without hope; but the Lord Jesus came and brought us into light, that we may have life. He saved us, loved us, and taught us his ways, giving us the Holy Spirit and speaking to us through the Bible, the Holy Spirit, and his people. Now that we are light, we too are charged with being that help to others. To light up the world around us, to bring people in, to give them light and life, and help them to see Jesus. Just as these synchronous fireflies light up together, we are called into community and to walk as children of light (fireflies are literally beings of light) pointed towards the Lord and what is pleasing to him. To have light, do as God commands and what is pleasing to him; light in us is one of the fruits of Christ changing our lives.

Look at these wonderful fireflies! One of only three species of fireflies in North America that are synchronous. This photo doesn’t do enough justice of what it was like to see hundreds and hundreds of fireflies lighting up at once. It’s amazing what the LORD has created and allowed me to see and experience.
