COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — Lefty Holman wanted a little more from his equine opponent from Thursday's performance of the NFR Open powered by RAM at the Pikes Peak or Bust Rodeo.

The Visalia, Calif., saddle bronc rider opened up with an 81.5-ride in first round of Pool B on Championship Pro Rodeo's Michael. The score moved him to third on the leaderboard ahead of Friday's matinee.

Holman drew Three Hills Rodeo's Bobby Shows for his second go and responded with the best ride of the rodeo so far, an 86.5-point ride that clinched the top spot in the pool.
