CALGARY – After failing to earn a check during Day 2 of Pool C at the Calgary Stampede, bareback rider Jacob Lees knew he had to step up his game on Saturday afternoon.

That's exactly what the Caldwell, Idaho, cowboy did.

Lees registered an 87.5-point ride on Outlaw Buckers' American Thumper to win the round and Pool C before 20,000-plus fans at GMC Stadium.

The victory earned Lees $7,000 and he took top honors in Pool C – after three days – with $12,500.
