A north star is not merely your goal — it is your purpose.

Head of School Dan Frank wrote an editorial for the Richmond Times-Dispatch this weekend. He described his experience during the senior rafting trip last year, and how it led him to contemplate his guideposts and north star.

Mr. Frank wrote, “Our guideposts carry us through the day to day. Our north star gives us direction when everything else is stripped away. I was not courageous that day, but I learned, or rather, confirmed, my north star. It is the children we serve. I will fight through hardship; I will take on any challenge; I will entertain any conflict to make the school’s dreams come true, in service of our children."
