The editors note: “The publication of JPIA comes after a year that has shaken our communities and laid bare the systemic barriers to equity embedded in institutions and #policymaking processes globally. Given these impactful events, we came to the firm conclusion that policymaking has favored efficiency over #equity, neglecting to center equitable outcomes in its design and evaluation for far too long. We made the important decision to give special consideration to submissions that analyzed issues through a #diversityequityinclusion framework.
