#WooWho: “You know when you go around in class, and the teacher will ask, ‘What do you want to be when you grow up?’ I always said President. Every single time. And I remember one time after doing that, we were sitting in a big circle, and this kid came up to me and said, ‘You know, most kids who say they are going to be President don’t end up doing that.’ And I thought, ‘Okay, I’m six. Check me in 30 years.’ It’s just this thing; I’ve always known I wanted to go into public service. I’ve always known that I wanted to work in government and try to improve life for people. When people ask me about my major, I like to tell them that I debated about being in Woody Woo, but I never really did. I love policy. I think my parents instilled in me this idea of ‘You were put here to make other people’s lives better.’ And so, I think the best way for me to use my talents is through public service. There’s no better place than wilson_school to learn this. The best part about being here is the people, both my classmates and teachers. I think when you have a place as exceptional as Princeton, it draws in exceptional people. And not just in terms of intellects or intelligence, although we have that. But people who are passionate and want to interact with you and the world, across all levels. In my time here, I’ve found that I love constitutional law so any time a question comes up, I’m like ‘Yes, but is it constitutional?’ I am considering going to law school. Regardless, I’m going to take a few years off to hopefully work in the public sector. This summer I’m hoping to work for public interest law and so that I think will be a good sort of step — a good balance between public service but also legal, the legal profession. … When I think about my career and life, I think about something my dad said once: ‘I don’t like to make decisions. I like to *take* decisions.’ There are some things that are so significant that you can’t help but take a decision — and really own it.
