#Princetagram seniors...are you diving into more #thesis #research during fall break? Pictured is andrea_reino '20, who snuck in some hiking while conducting research in #Norway. "My thesis topic consists of comparing the humaneness of the Norwegian prison system to that of the American prison system, since the Norwegian one is regularly regarded as the most humane system in the world. I spent time at Halden Prison, a men’s maximum-security facility in southern Norway. The rest of Norway’s prisons are modeled after Halden, which is why I chose to visit there. I spent many hours with the warden, shadowing him throughout his daily responsibilities while learning about the culture of the facility. With him, I toured each building in the facility, including classrooms, workshops, kitchens, living units, medical facilities, and much more. I also had the opportunity to interview six incarcerated individuals as well as some guards, teachers, and the warden. The photo with the mural is a famous location in Halden Prison, which contracted with several artists to beautify the facility." #Princeton2020
