## Caption

Hundreds of University Village residents, a family housing complex made up of UC Berkeley graduate student researchers and instructors, postdoctoral scholars and others, are refusing to pay for a parking permit that was set to begin July 1. 

The permit costs $64 a month, or approximately $768 a year, and would be charged in addition to rent, according to a University Village in Albany press release. 

Since the July 1 implementation, a petition was issued July 8 with more than 250 signatures stating that residents refuse to pay the parking fee and are urging “UC to come to the table.”
