The U23 Illinois State Cup Semi-Final was not played Tuesday due to a water-logged pitch in Glenview. Steel City NXT was awarded the hosting of the match TONIGHT, at Lincoln Way North HS at 7:45pm

Less burdened by the shadows of the past, Steel City NXT takes the field against Czarni Jaslo in the semi-finals of the Under-23 Illinois State Cup.

It's a chance for these rising stars to reshape history and edge closer to breaking the ancient jinx that has haunted Joliet for 105 years - the last time a team in Illinois's third largest city lifted an Illinois State Cup.

Steel City NXT have won five of the seven Illinois State Cup matches they've played all-time. Their only two losses have been in finals.

The club remains steadfast in allowing its young players - who got them to this point - to continue representing, unlike many teams who wholesale change their squad to so-called 'first team players' in later rounds of the tournament.

Steel City NXT is the clubs top Under-23 team in its third season. It is top-of-the-table in the U23 Northern Illinois Soccer League.

In its two previous seasons it has won a league championship and finished second place in two Illinois State Cups.

Steel City NXT is coached by Plainfield's Anthony Skrip and trains alongside Steel City's first team in a professional environment whereby players compete for first team positions.
