DIY hydroponics! Hydroponics techniques can get kids really excited about gardening but prefabricated units can be a pricey initial investment. Our garden educator tested this DIY option at her home that uses a 2-liter bottle for a container, an aquarium pump to provide aeration, and rockwool (or a cotton ball) to start the seeds and support the roots.
