Chris Medeiros ’25 is one of 19 students participating in Trinity’s Madrid Summer Internship Program.

This program combines real experience in an international work environment with exposure to the rich and exciting culture of Spain. Students can explore career options, build their resumes, and improve their Spanish speaking while exploring the kaleidoscope of music, food, dance, art, tradition, and history that is Madrid.

The group, with majors varying from business to Spanish, political science, communication, and music, is being led by modern languages and literatures professor Rosana Blanco-Cano and finance professor Dante Suarez.

“Living with Spanish host families, they [the students] have no choice but to be immersed in the language and culture of the country,” says Dr. Suarez. “Every week, a group of three participating students is responsible for organizing an entertaining cultural activity for everyone. The group has traveled to Salamanca and Toledo, both historical cities that help them see the way in which Spain has developed over the centuries.”

“As a language and culture professor, I can see how beneficial this experience can be for the students,” adds Dr. Rosana Blanco-Cano. “This a wonderful experience because, despite the fact that this is a short experience abroad, they need to adjust rapidly to working and living in Madrid. They discover, every single day, an important aspect of the language and culture. And, in some way, about their life and future career.”

The Madrid Summer Internship Program is one of the nine faculty-led study abroad programs taking place around the world this summer. Stay tuned to see where else our Tigers have been learning.
