Ella Charbonnet ’25 wasn’t always planning on going into marketing. But now that she’s declared her major, it makes perfect sense for her. 

Ella came to Trinity planning on majoring in biology and quickly realized that it wasn’t for her. As she got to thinking about helping people in a marketing setting, her path became clearer. She had experience with working with companies in high school, but her job at Four Seasons made her realize that she loved having conversations. 

“I really loved talking to people, and I couldn’t imagine myself stuck in like a lab or a hospital all day,” Ella says. “I called my parents and I went, ‘I’m switching to marketing.’ And never honestly looked back.”

Ella is also a sociology minor, through which she hopes to better understand consumer behavior and continue her interest in women and gender studies. Her passion for women’s issues comes from lessons she learned from her mom. 

“My mom’s a really big role model for me,” Ella says. “She was a single mother, and she went through a lot of hardship that forced her to be independent very young. And she always taught me that women are very strong and independent and to never let anyone underestimate me.”

The perseverance that she learned from her mom will help her in her time at Trinity. Though she had an uncertain start to declaring her major, Ella encourages students to keep exploring and not get discouraged. 

“Sometimes life just doesn’t work out, and that’s okay,” she says. “I truly believe college is about figuring it all out.”
