“I started triathlons when I was 7 years old- 20 years ago! I watched my dad finish his first Ironman in 2002, and from that point, it was a lifelong dream to do one with him. When I crossed my first ever Ironman finish line, my dad did the race too- it was super special. ❤️
.
Sport helps keep me grounded and focused, so when COVID hit and races were canceled, I really struggled. I stopped following a training plan and got major burnout, exercising more than ever to just fill my empty days. I got injured, which forced me to slow down, incorporate structure and rest, gave me some much-needed perspective about my long-term goals in triathlon. ➡️

Training is so important in terms of empowerment and structure for me. As a Ph.D. student, my days can feel really disorganized, and having the routine of training to find order in the chaos is important. It also teaches me that I can overcome really big challenges and meet really big goals, by thinking both long term, and in the moment (i.e a single step at a time).” 👟
